The Dark Skin’s Rhyme

--

Played in the sun and tanned her face

In happiness quotient, she bagged the first place

No time for makeup and desire to look hot

With artificiality, for years she has fought

No time to impress people of that specific class

She is happy being a village lass

She can’t fit into your repressive molds, she knows

Her ‘darkness’ comes to fore, in the darkness brightly she glows

So, your complexion creams and sham mud that you recommend

Is neither her wish, want nor need — so she won’t bend

Make her believe at least for once

Dark complexion never stuns

Dark skin is a curse

Bet nobody can reverse

The adverts claim

With fair complexion, one reaches fame

Why some “whites” haven’t ever shone

We definitely would have known

Care less about how fair people should be

This way it will be a big favour, her only plea

Make your life being worth cherishing for

Be positivity different; insensitivity — abhor

Stay away from bullying their confidence

Train your brain and show some sense

It’s not the skin complexion that matters

Between the beauty and the heart, see the latter
